Ludacris Speaks On DaBaby Comparison: “ I see Where Lil Duval Was Coming From”

Lil Duval started a big debate back in June after the comedian compared DaBaby to rap veteran Ludacris. In a tweet, Duval suggested DaBaby is “this generation[’s] Ludacris.”

Of course, Duval faced criticism for his comparison but Luda isn’t bothered by it at all. While appearing on the Breakfast Club, the 43-year-old said, “I saw people give him a lot of slack for that, and I was like, ‘That’s crazy,’ because I understand where Lil Duval was coming from,” said Luda said. “You know, in terms of everything we’re talking about, having fun with your visuals, and being playful, and being slick with the lyrics and having subliminals.”

He went on to say,

“I can understand where he came from with that, but I think people were trying to compare my two decades in the game to however long DaBaby’s been in there, for like two or three years,” he continued. “I think he’s a great artist, and I’ve said that before, and I love the fact he said he was inspired by my videos. … So he already had paid homage, man, so I wasn’t really tripping like that at all.”

DaBaby also previously addressed the comparison saying Luda has been in the inspiration behind many of his music videos.

50 Cent Says DaBaby Will Bounce Back After Being “Canceled” For Homophobic Rant: “They Tried To Cancel Chris Brown!”

50 Cent is now weighing in on all the drama surrounding DaBaby and he’s actually sticking by the rapper’s side.

RELATED: DaBaby Shares Another Apology To The LGBTQ Community After Being Dropped From Multiple Festivals Over Homophobic Rant

As we previously reported, while performing at the Rolling Loud festival in Miami, DaBaby asked every audience member to “put your cell phone light up”, apart from those who were HIV-positive or were gay men who had sex in car parks. Following a wave of backlash, the rapper later apologized for his comments. He tweeted that his comments were “insensitive” adding he had “no intentions on offending anybody” before offering “my apologies”. “Anybody who done ever been [affected] by AIDS/HIV y’all got the right to be upset,” he said at the time. He issued another apology but still ended up being dropped from a total of 7 festivals.

Although DaBaby seems like he’s taking his L in peace, 50 Cent strongly believes that he’ll bounce back from all of this. While appearing on E!’s Nightly Pop, 50 told hosts Nina Parker, Morgan Stewart, and Hunter March that the entertainer is “only two years into his career. There’s no artist development. There’s no strong A&R in this. There’s definitely no media training.” He added that DaBaby can “bounce back” from the scandal, and reminded everyone about the time “they tried to cancel Chris Brown five or six times” for his scandal.

50 also noted that “there’s nobody that tells you, ‘Now, you’re held to these standards,’ that are mainstream standards that you can’t say things and you can’t do these different things. He didn’t have a publicist involved and this is why the response took so long. Even his apology, the first apology attempt at it, was what made it worse. You know what it is? When a person makes a general statement, ’cause he made a general statement on stage, he’s not directing that to any individual, but what happens is he’s still new and he’s being attacked by individuals.”

In GLAAD’s statement, the organization said, “The rhetoric that DaBaby used is inaccurate, hurtful, and harmful to the LGBTQ community and the estimated 1.2 million Americans living with HIV,” DaShawn Usher, associate director of communities of color for GLAAD wrote via Twitter. “It is critical that DaBaby and his fans learn that people living with HIV today, when on effective treatment, lead long and healthy lives and cannot transmit HIV.”

“While DaBaby has made haphazard attempts to ‘apologize,’ actions need to be taken for full accountability and changes to do better in the future,” Usher continued. “It further confirms what GLAAD reported last year in the State of HIV Stigma Study that stigma and misinformation around HIV is widespread, and there is much work to be done to educate the public, including entertainers.”

On top of DaBaby’s apology, he released a new video “Giving What It’s Supposed to Give” on Wednesday. In the clip, he appears to address the homophobic comments he made during his appearance at Rolling Loud in Miami on Sunday along with a dose of sexism.

According to TMZ, the victim, Tyronesha Laws just filed the lawsuit. She claims she was struck by DaBaby after he got mad that someone shoved their phone in his face. While Laws say she wasn’t the person who did that to him, she still got hit anyway and now, she wants him to pay for what he’s done.

In the docs obtained by the news site, Laws also says DaBaby expressed absolutely no remorse for his actions and even points out the rapper made fun of the situation on social media when he posted a skit featuring comedian Michael Blackson.

Matt Morgan and Chelsea Cromer of Morgan and Morgan are representing Laws. They explained to that, “Our goal is to deter similar conduct in the future and send a message that this type of behavior is not tolerated in America.” Laws is now suing for battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and other damages.

As we previously reported, the concert promoter named Kenneth says he got his money taken along with a few personal items and beat up while trying to pay DaBaby for an event he agreed to attend. But, things went left after the two met up to sort everything out. While speaking with TMZ, Kenneth says he was hired to put on a birthday party for rapper Stunna 4 Vegas at a Florida nightclub night and made a deal with DaBaby to host. He claims it was for a discounted rate of $30k since the rappers are friends.

However, Kenneth tells TMZ that he showed up with $20k and promised DaBaby the final $10k once the party was over but the rapper and his crew got heated, and it quickly turned violent. Kenneth has shared pictures showing his injuries and claims he had to get checked out by a doctor because his injuries were so bad. In addition to that, he says video of the assault is difficult for him and his loved ones to watch. Kenneth also claims DaBaby’s team made off with money that hasn’t been returned to him.

DaBaby appeared in court Friday and is being held without bond because he also has an active warrant in Texas.
