Man Accused Of Shooting And Killing Rapper Trouble Has Agreed To Turn Himself In; Now In Custody

Jamichael Jones, the 33-year-old who police believe is responsible for the death of rapper Trouble, agreed to turn himself in on Monday evening, according to multiple reports, who confirm he’s been taken into custody. As per Fox 5 and WSB-TV 2, citing the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office, Jamichael acceded to surrender after he’s alleged to have shot and killed Trouble, whose real name is Mariel Orr, inside a Lake St. James apartment complex in Conyers, Georgia on Sunday.

Jedidia Canty, the public information officer for the department, revealed to the New York Post that Trouble was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering from one gunshot wound to the chest. He is said to have been staying with a female companion when Jamichael broke into the apartment and allegedly shot the musical artist. While the suspect isn’t believed to have had any ties to Trouble, Jamichael did know the woman whom he shared a “domestic dispute” with.

Jamichael is now facing a heap of charges, including home invasion, aggravated assault, and felony murder, authorities have confirmed. Since Trouble’s sudden passing, dozens of his industry peers have taken to social media to pay tribute in many heartfelt posts.

Meek Mill took to Twitter following reports of Trouble’s passing, writing, “And I woke up to rip trouble…. Everybody texting be careful! Smh rip fam!!!!,” while Gucci Mane kept his message short, tweeting, “R.I.P. Trouble.”

Def Jam, the record label to which the rapper was signed, paid their respects to the 34-year-old in a statement posted on their Instagram on Sunday, penning, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the children, loved ones, and fans of Trouble. A true voice for his city and an inspiration to the community he proudly represented. RIP Skoob.”

Trouble landed his big break following the release of his single “Bussin” in 2011, which later led him to work with the likes of The Weeknd, Drake, Gucci Mane, and Young Thug.

Shortly before his death, Trouble had posted multiple photos of himself enjoying his time with friends at a club, with several of his friends in tow. Per the Daily Mail, he was also seen in a video dancing while sitting in the bed of a pickup truck. His murder comes just one month after sharing a post on social media about life being too short. “Life short af dawg smh Neva know when yo numBa gon be called!” he wrote. “Be grateful. Forgive – Don’t forget.”
