J. Cole is not only trending for returning fire at Kendrick Lamar but he’s now being accused of firing off transphobic lyrics on his new song “Pi,” from his recently released album ‘Might Delete Later;’ which is a direct response to Lamar’s diss on “Like That,” featuring Future and Metro Boomin.
While most of their fans are busy marinating in the catchy wordplay and hot fire spewed from each rapper, some social media users are now further dissecting and criticizing J. Cole’s surprise project ‘Might Delete Later,’ which includes some controversial, and possibly transphobic, lyrics.
Cole not only dropped bombs on K. Dot with his viral track “7 Minute Drill,” but fans also have reason to believe that he came for the Compton rapper on his song “Pi,” which fans claim targets Lamar’s 2022 song “Auntie Diaries.” On that song, which arrived on Lamar’s album ‘Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers,’ he opens up about accepting a transgender relative while also owning up to his past ignorance.
Some fans are now questioning if J. Cole is transphobic after seemingly taking aim at Kendrick Lamar’s “Auntie Diaries” on his ‘Might Delete Later‘ song “Pi,” which features rappers Daylyt and Ab-Soul. On the song, Cole raps, “Is you a demon or is that demeanor for the ‘Gram?, tell us / They plead the fifth, I’m seeing hints of a trans fella / In cancel culture’s vicinity, he’s no killer, trust me / Beneath his chosen identity, there is still a p***y, period.”
Although Cole doesn’t directly mention K. Dot on “Pi,” we all know that the attack on the Compton rapper on the other ‘Might Delete Later‘ track, “7 Minute Drill,” was very obvious, especially as he took aim and deemed his ‘Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers‘ album a huge fail. With the attack on K. Dot’s album and the alleged hit on his trans-related track “Auntie Diaries,” fans are now accusing J. Cole of being transphobic, calling his lyrics on “Pi,” “lazy, bigoted nonsense.”
This isn’t the first time that J. Cole has shared controversial lyrics related to the LGBTQIA+ community. In 2013, he released a song called “Villuminati,” from his album ‘Born Sinner.’ On the song, he rapped, “I don’t mean no disrespect whenever I say f****t / Okay, f****t? Don’t be so sensitive / If you want to get f***ed in the a**, that’s between you and whoever else’s d**k it is.”
The rapper continued to follow it up with a punchline and rapped, “Pause, maybe that line was too far / Just a little joke to show how homophobic you are / And who can blame ya.”
He also had another moment more recently on his 2021 song “9 5 . s o u t h’ housed on ‘The Off-Season,’ Cole rapped, “Check your genitalia, p***y n***as bleedin’ on yourself.”
