Doctor Who Postponed Wedding Due To Coronavirus Diagnosis Passes Away

A Chinese doctor who held off his wedding plans to treat patients with the coronavirus has died after contracting the virus.

According to the New York Post, Dr.Peng Yinhua,29, worked at the People’s No.1 Hospital at the Jiangxia district in Wuhan. Dr.Yinhua died Thursday after contracting the virus while treating patients since the deadly outbreak. He was hospitalized on January 25 and was transported to the Wuhan Jiyintan Hospital almost a week after.

Local reports say Dr.Yinhua planned to get married during the Chinese New Year but postponed his ceremony to help save patients who were infected with the Wuhan coronavirus. He never had the chance to send out his wedding invitations which were still in his office drawer.

So far, eight medical officials have died from the virus and the death toll in the country has increased to over 2,200. The Post also added that 1,700 medical workers have been infected by the virus in the Hubei province. A newborn baby who was born 30 hours ago became the youngest person to contract the virus.

Various Weibo users have mourned Dr. Yinhua’s death and called him a hero for fighting to help his patients be cured of the coronavirus.
