Black Student Charged With Murder Says He Was Standing His Ground Against Racist Attack

Recently we reported that a black Georgia student was arrested and charged with murder after he fatally shot a teen who was in a vehicle with occupants that were screaming the N-word and following him while he was driving his car with his girlfriend.

William Marcus Wilson, 21-year-old college student is currently facing felony murder and aggravated assault charges for the death of white, 17-year-old high school student, Haley Hutcheson.

Wilson’s lawyer is arguing that his client fired at the other car, accidentally hitting the girl, out of fear for his and his girlfriend’s lives after a racist pursuit.

The couple is reported to have gone to Taco Bell, when they were racially harassed in traffic by a group of teens in a Chevy. The male occupants  repeatedly threw racial slurs and referred to his white girlfriend as a “(n-word) lover,” and screamed, “Your lives don’t matter.” The Chevy then attempted to run Wilson’s Ford Focus off the road, and after he heard something hit him, he fired a shot at the truck.

Apparently the police also failed to adequately take Wilson and his girlfriend’s accounts, while giving more attention to the white occupants.

“Make no mistake about it,” Attorney Francys Johnson told reporters Monday in a Zoom meeting. “We believe that if Marc Wilson was a white gentlemen that night, accosted by a truckload of angry, belligerent, possibly drunk black men, and he used a legally-possessed firearm to defend himself and his passenger, that he would have been given a medal and not given a prosecution.”

Wilson’s father described his son as a peaceful person who respected law.

“His character is based on loving others. That’s who Marc Wilson is, who he always has been and will continue to always be,” Pat Wilson said.

Wilson is Scheduled to appear before a judge today to request bond.
