Angela Yee Responds To Backlash From Her Comments About Being ‘Held Accountable’ For DJ Envy & Charlamagne Tha God’s ‘Controversial’ Comments

Yesterday, we shared a clip to our Instagram of Yee’s recent appearance on Tamron Hall’s self-titled talk show.

While there, Yee spoke with Hall about her legendary strides at Power 105’s hottest morning show, ‘The Breakfast Club.’

Hall says she was “always struck” by the fact that Yee was “the lone woman;” especially when her co-hosts had “controversial” comments towards women, which listeners expected Yee to speak up, check them and hold them accountable for their views.

Yee acknowledged Hall’s opinion and agreed that she was indeed “held accountable” for Envy and CTG’s comments. She added, “I feel lie sometime, I got it harder than he did for something that he said. We’re all three individuals. But people always affiliate you as a whole group.”

When asked about Yee’s comments on Hall’s show, DJ Envy told the ‘Michigan Chronicle,’ that he thinks she “misspoke” when addressing the situation.

Since her initial comments, and Envy’s response, Yee has now taken to her Twitter to put a nail in the coffin on the situation herself.

She said, “Usually I don’t comment or go back and forth with people but there’s too much spinning. “In the room” referred to the people in the studio: the producer, board op, videographer and hosts. Yes they are men.

That doesn’t mean that there aren’t amazing women who are execs, salespeople, interns, and in other departments. I’ve said this on many occasions: that it can be hard when your viewpoint is different based on your experience.

I didn’t anticipate that this would cause such a firestorm. Everyone texting me “are you ok” (which I appreciate!) and I know I don’t normally take the time to overexplain because it drags things out even more but that’s all 🤷🏽‍♀️.”
