5-Year-Old Rescues 2-Year-Old Sister From Burning House Then Goes Back For Dog

After awaking to flames in his bedroom, 5-year-old Noah Woods pulled himself and 2-year-old sister out of a window, then returned inside to save their dog.

Noah was one of eight family members in slumber last Sunday (Feb 9) in Bartow County, Georgia. After saving his sister, he grabbed the family dog, then ran next door to his uncle’s house, who helped  alert the rest of his family.

Thanks to Noah’s heroic efforts, everyone made it out safely, with only a few minor burns and smoke inhalation. Additionally he’s being named an honorary firefighter and will receive a rare lifesavers award for his heroics.

Bartow County Fire Department Chief Dwayne Jamison says, “We’ve seen children alert their families before. But for a 5-year-old to be alert enough to do this … that’s pretty extraordinary.”

Noah’s grandfather David Woods stated in a GoFundMe post, “By the grace of God, all nine of our loved ones were able to get out of our home. If it wasn’t for Noah, we may not be here today.”

In addition to his honorary award, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp made wind of the rescue and sent a letter to Fire Chief Jamison; who will read it at tomorrow’s (Feb. 14) award ceremony.
