Over 1,400 Black women and their supporters have shown their endorsement for President Biden and Vice President Harris in a letter that was published on Thursday.

They emphasized the significant number of Americans who voted for Biden and Harris during the primary election, and expressed their opposition to any efforts to alter the ticket  “disregard” and “circumvent the will of millions of voters who participated in a democratic process.”

According to @thehill, the women reportedly wrote, “the suggestion that any candidate who won their primary should simply step aside because victory appears difficult at the moment is disrespectful to the voters, unjust and undemocratic.”

Prominent figures in the Black community, such as Carol Moseley Braun, the first African American woman elected to the Senate; Keisha Lance Bottoms, former senior adviser to Biden and ex-mayor of Atlanta; and Melanie Campbell, president and CEO of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation and leader of the Black Women’s Roundtable, have signed the letter. This comes after weeks of Democrats urging Biden to step down from the ticket following his debate performance a few weeks back.

  1. I am also appalled at the lack of unity.
If the Democrats would show more confidence, support, and comradery in the president and their process he would not feel as if he is fighting against the whole country. President Biden needs their support, and help with positive motivating words.
Get out, campaign, and encourage the voters.
