As previously reported, rapper Young Thug was taken to the hospital on Thursday after he became ill. Court proceedings were paused that day so he could be evaluated. The entertainer was eventually released and was expected him to be back in court Friday morning to continue with jury selection. His attorney said at the time,
“Jeffery was not feeling well earlier, and the sheriff’s office had him seen by medical personnel to ensure that he was okay. We expect to be back in court tomorrow as we continue to fight these charges and work toward getting him home.” However, he reportedly became ill again.
According to WSBTV, Young Thug was taken to the hospital for a second day in a row after before court proceedings. Lawyers told Judge Ural Granville that the rapper, whose real name is Jeffrey Williams, was not well enough to go forward with pre-trail hearings as he was suffering from “chest pains.”
While no further details were shared, his attorney Keith Adams previously told Judge Ural Glanville, “I’m concerned about his well-being, his condition.” Court was reportedly suspended because of Williams’ illness. It is unclear when they will resume.
More On Young Thug’s Jail Time
Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, was indicted approximately one year ago. He has been held in the Cobb County Jail since his arrest on May 9, 2022. His lawyers have asked for bond several times, but it has constantly been denied.
Young Thug has been accused of many things
like being a founder and leader of a criminal street gang named Young Slime Life.
Fellow rapper Gunna was also arrested and released in December 2022 after entering a plea deal amid the RICO charges which are still on trial. Of course his release led to speculation that he snitched on Young Thug. However, his attorney previously released a statement denying those claims.
“While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way,” he said in a statement following his release from jail.
“Gunna has never been interviewed by or cooperated with law enforcement or prosecutors in the RICO case,” the statement read. “Nor have his attorneys proffered information on his behalf.” They continued, “What was said at his Alford plea hearing was solely to resolve his own case. It cannot be used by the prosecution against Young Thug or any other defendant.”
Young Thug’s brother Quantavious Grier who was also arrested on RICO charges also got out of the slammer after pleading guilty back in December. He was ultimately sentenced to 12 years as part of the deal. However, this was commuted to two years of time served and 10 years of probation.
After he was released, he also denied snitching on his brother to get out.”Damn people really think I told on my own brother smh,” he wrote. “show me in the paper work I told on anybody lol, I’m not even fenna entertain any of it, peace and blessings.”
