Kirk Franklin opened up about his oldest son, “Bad Boys: Los Angeles” star Kerrion leaking their private conversation on Instagram.

The conversation was leaked on Instagram in March 2021 where Kerrion recorded his estranged father saying “I will put my foot in your ass” and “I will break your neck” before spewing a string of profanities and insults towards him. After the leak, Kirk Franklin apologized to his fans: Recently, my son and I had an argument that he chose to record. I felt extremely disrespected in that conversation and I lost my temper, and I said words that are not appropriateI am sincerely sorry to all of you, I sincerely apologize.”

He told Page Six that the moment still traumatized him to this day, “It traumatizes me to this day. It is very difficult, and my wife will tell you.” However, he further explained to the outlet that his rant didn’t come out of nowhere. “That tape was a reflection of years of what our family dynamic has been going through, just so you know. You don’t have that type of anger out there without there being a history of something,” he said.

A year after the leak, Kerrion signed on to join Zeus Network’s “Bad Boys: Los Angeles where he opened up about his sexuality and came out as bisexual on the show. He briefly discussed his relationship with his father and tearfully explained how he felt alone when it comes to dealing with family.
“I don’t think people realize that I really be alone. I don’t get no family time, so it’s like, it’s a different kind of battle for me. I definitely know about dark waters when it comes to dealing with parents.”
Fans also showed their support for Kerrion for being more about his sexuality and not conforming to societal expectations.
