Unfortunate news for YNW Melly and his fans. This Tuesday, a judge who is presiding over the trial of the Florida rapper announced that he was ruling against the defense’s motion for a mistrial.
The reason for Broward Circuit Judge John Murphy’s decision was because he disagreed with Melly’s defense attorneys’ claim that the prosecution had “tainted” the jury. In addition to this, the court also announced that witness testimony couldn’t move forward since a juror remained hospitalized after reportedly suffering dehydration.
As we previously reported, Melly, real name Jamell Maurice Demons, is looking at the death penalty if convicted of the murders of Christopher “Juvy” Thomas Jr., and Anthony “Sakchaser” Williams, two of his fellow YNW members and friends on Oct. 26, 2018.

Demons is accused by prosecutors of shooting Thomas, 19, and Williams, 21, when he was 19 years old after leaving a recording studio in Fort Lauderdale.
Last week, the defense’s motion centered around the testimony of Felicia Holmes, a registered nurse whose daughter Mariah Hamilton, now 22, was in a relationship with Demons at the time.
Defense Attorney David Howard said there had been a “prejudicial fiasco” in court, and he accused Assistant State Attorney Kristine Bradley of calling Holmes to read out-of-court statements even despite a court’s ruling against it, the new site notes. “This jury sat there and watched this fiasco unfold with at least 10, maybe 15 sidebars, after every two questions,” Howard said before adding that the “highly prejudicial” testimony had “tainted” the jury.
This latest news is not what his fans want to hear. Especially for his mother who recently revealed what kind to role this had been taking in her.
According to Hip-Hop DX, Melly’s mother Jamie King shared an Instagram Story earlier this week and said,
“I’m deleting this app I can’t be crying and making myself upset because of a lying clout chaser who won’t even show his face in court but care so much,” King wrote. “I had 1 heart attack already because of stress I refuse to let this kill me I try to be peaceful and respectful to all of you. I pray for everyone because I know it’s the right thing to do.”
