The vice president of a Detroit funeral home has died just days after a family alleged that their loved one was mistakenly cremated.
Joseph Hutchison Jr., vice president of operations at Hutchison Funeral Home, was found dead Thursday, Sept. 24, according to a public relations representative for the funeral home.
Detroit police said Hutchison was discovered in the 200 block of Harbortown. The Wayne County Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
His death comes approximately one week after a family accused Hutchison Funeral Home of cremating the wrong person and demanded answers.
“Our hearts are with the family during this difficult time,” Detroit police said in a statement Friday.
