Wow! It’s reported that Donald Trump lawyer Cleta Mitchell is trying to limit voting access on college campuses. She gave a 50-slide presentation, trying to make her argument.
Trump Lawyer Cleta Mitchell Wants To Limit Voting Access On College Campuses
Cleta Mitchell, the longtime “top GOP lawyer” who helped former President Donald Trump in his effort to overturn his loss in the 2020 election, spoke out about wanting restrict access for voting on U.S. college campuses.
It is reported that Mitchell, who runs an organization called the Election Integrity Network, made the disparaging comments during a presentation at a Republican National Committee donor retreat in Nashville, TN on Saturday, April 15.
Mitchell spoke to the roomful of GOP donors, and said that conservatives should join forces on limiting voting on college campuses, same-day voter registration and automatic mailing of ballots to registered voters. By limiting these certain groups it changes the turnout of those showing up and skews the Democratic results.
It’s also reported that Mitchell’s presentation was titled “A Level Playing Field for 2024,” and included more than 50 slides. According to The Washington Post, they obtained audio from the event, in addition to a copy of the 50-slide PowerPoint presented by Mitchell.
The Post claims the audio was obtained and given to them by liberal journalist Lauren Windsor. On the audio recording, Mitchell asked, “What are these college campus locations? What is this young people effort that they do? They basically put the polling place next to the student dorm so they just have to roll out of bed, vote, and go back to bed.”
According to The Post, the Republican party has not formally endorsed Mitchell’s plan on limiting voter access. However, the publication adds that they have been working closely with her ever since former President Trump left the White House.
Also during her 50-slide presentation, Mitchell spoke out about on-campus voting within five states: Georgic, Virginia, Nevada, Arizona, and Wisconsin. All of these states host large public universities, with large in-state student populations.
It is reported that for years, campus voting has been a big issue, and has even seen Republicans in states like Texas, Idaho and New Hampshire, trying to restrict students from using their college identification cards to vote.
Furthermore, an RNC spokesman, Keith Schipper, claimed that following her 50-slide presentation, Mitchell hopped over to a Four Seasons hotel bar, where she continued to met with donors and Republican strategits.
Schipper stated, “As the RNC continues to strengthen our Election Integrity program, we are thankful for leaders like Cleta Mitchell who do important work for the Republican ecosystem. Our guests in Nashville were grateful for her to travel to the event and share her efforts.”
Additionally, Mitchell relayed to the RNC audience that her organization, Election Integrity Network, “is NOT about winning campaigns.”
