Michelle Obama went on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday and revealed that Donald Trump didn’t invite her back to White House for the hanging of her official portrait.
“It was really a beautiful experience,” she added about the portrait hanging. “That’s tradition. You do your official portraits. The next president is supposed to invite you back to hang them. We were never invited back.”
On September 7, President Joe Biden asked the couple back to the White House for the first time in five years. During the trip, they honored the Obamas by having an official portrait unveiling, something they should have experienced years before under Trump’s administration.
According US Weekly, the portrait was painted by artist Amy Sherald and is a part of the Gallery’s permanent collection.
The portrait depicts Michelle Obama wearing a flowing, geometric patterned dress by the designer Michelle Smith, and sitting against a light blue background. Sherald, who is known for her use of gray skin tones, painted Michelle Obama’s skin in shades of gray, rather than using traditional skin tones, in order to emphasize the former First Lady’s distinctive features and to challenge the way that African Americans have traditionally been represented in art.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by Michelle Obama and her husband, former President Barack Obama, as well as a number of other dignitaries and guests. The portrait quickly became a popular attraction at the National Portrait Gallery, drawing large crowds of visitors who were eager to see the painting in person.
The portrait has been widely praised for its unique style and for the way that it captures Michelle Obama’s poise, grace, and intelligence. It has also been celebrated for its significance as a representation of an African American woman in a position of power and influence.

trump was a fake president put into power by stealing the election. He honestly did the Obama’s a tremendous favor by not inviting them back. It was so much better for a legitimate president to honor them with a portrait revealing. The Obama’s were America’s royalty.
