DaBaby’s lawyers, Drew Findling and Marissa Goldberg are responding to the surveillance video of the 2018 Walmart shooting that was recently shared with the public. As it was previously reported, DaBaby was accused of shooting and killing 19-year-old Jaylin Craig in 2018, an incident the rapper claims was in self-defense.

Rolling Stone published the surveillance footage Sunday from the North Carolina incident, and the article appeared to question DaBaby’s self-defense narrative. His legal team says while it made many people jump to conclusions, it actually supports the rapper’s defense. They note that the video was reviewed by prosecutors back in 2018… when the incident happened… and they concluded DaBaby acted in self-defense and therefore was not prosecuted for homicide. DaBaby had even told cops at the time that the victim and another accomplice were following him around the Walmart store and allegedly threatened him. Once he saw a gun being flashed, it caused him to go into defense mode to protect himself. To further prove that DaBaby didn’t act recklessly in this case, it was also said the surveillance video was viewed by a Mecklenburg County judge in connection with a misdemeanor charge for not having the proper permits for his gun.

The rapper’s attorney told the outlet: “Witnesses were interviewed and corroborated Mr. Kirk’s statement. The entirety of the surveillance video was viewed and determined to corroborate Mr. Kirk’s statement … Mr. Kirk was protecting himself and his family at the time of the shooting,” TMZ quotes.

A similar incident happened earlier this month when he shot someone who tried to intrude onto his property in North Carolina. DaBaby, 30, born Jonathan Kirk, shot the intruder in the leg after the two exchanged words, sources told the outlet. The rapper later confirmed reports and said he “chose not to take a life” that day: “N***as get shot every day, B. You’ll be aight, n***a. You tough right?” DaBaby captioned the post: “Chose not to take a n***a life the other day, and it felt great. Buddy ain’t deserve to go, I step righteously. Heal up & live my boy! Just don’t bring ya ass back.”

What Else Has DaBaby Gotten Into?

In addition to this, DaBaby recently put the paws on his artist Wisdom. In a video clip shared online shows the rapper punching the artist straight in the face. The brief scuffle ended with DaBaby yelling and cursing at him. No reports were made nor were charges filed against him for that incident.

Meanwhile, DaBaby is still facing legal ramifications over the bowling alley scuffle with his baby mama DaniLeigh’s brother Brandon Bills. However, that case seems to have stalled as it’s been said that Brandon is no longer cooperating with police. DaBaby, who was accused of assaulting him after he confronted him for disrespecting his sister claimed that he acted in self defense.
