A St. Louis woman was recently arrested after chasing down her sister’s stolen car, causing the thieves to crash the car, and have it catch fire. Upon crashing, the woman walked up to the car and shot the people inside.
It was reported that on Sunday (June 18), 32-year-old Francesca Jones was charged with three counts of first-degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
St. Louis Police officials said that Jones was driving with three children in the city’s suburbs when she saw her sister’s 2020 Dodge Challenger, which had been stolen the day prior. When she saw the stolen car, she took pursuit of it and went on a whole car chase with the thieves.
During the chase, Jones tried to ram the back of the Challenger to get the thieves to stop the car. Eventually, the thieves ended up crashing into a truck and running off the side of the road, and then caught fire.
As the two thieves in the Challenger tried to escape the burning car, Jones allegedly exited her car, walked up to the occupants of the stolen vehicle and opened fire on them. It was reported that one of the thieves fired back at Jones.
When police arrived to the scene, Jones was taken into custody, and they recovered her gun in a purse that was sitting in the trunk of her car. Jones’ is currently being held on bond, which was set at $750,000, cash only.
It is unclear what the condition is of the two people who Jones shot, as well as any word on if the thieves were charged yet.
