According to a statement from The Gulf Times, photojournalist Khalid al-Misslam died over the weekend. “Al- Misslam, a Qatari, died suddenly while covering the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022,” it says. We trust in Allah’s mercy and forgiveness for him, and we express our heartfelt condolences to his family.” Al-Misslam worked for the Qatari news channel Al Kass TV and covered the World Cup, according to Fox News Sports.
However, the cause of death is unknown at this time, and his death was announced during a live broadcast. He is the second journalist to die while covering the World Cup, following Grant Wahl. He died a few days ago after collapsing while covering Argentina’s victory over the Netherlands at Lusaka Iconic Stadium. He was taken to a nearby hospital, but it is unclear whether he died there or during the ambulance ride.

Wahl made headlines after being barred from entering Ahmad bin Ali Stadium and detained for 30 minutes for wearing a T-shirt depicting a soccer ball surrounded by a rainbow. He has also been harshly critical of the Qatari government and its participation in the World Cup.
Grant Wahl, 48 y/o soccer reporter, was kicked out of a game at the World Cup by Qatari officials when he showed up wearing a rainbow flag shirt a few weeks ago. Today he died while covering the Netherlands v Argentina game. This deserves a full investigation. Super suspicious pic.twitter.com/O3Tueygrem

According to the outlet, Wahl recently appeared on a podcast and stated that he was feeling a little sick due to throat issues and sleeping problems. He stated that he sought treatment at the media center’s medical facility.
So I’ve had bronchitis this week, and I’ve been to the media center’s medical clinic twice, including today. I’m feeling better today because I cancelled everything I had planned for Thursday and napped instead. And I’m getting a little better. “I think you can tell by the tone of my voice that I’m not 100 percent.”
His brother Eric, on the other hand, believes his brother was killed for his beliefs and does not believe he was sick during the trip.
“I’m the reason he wore the rainbow shirt to the World Cup. My brother was healthy. He told me he received death threats. I do not believe my brother just died. I believe he was killed. And I just beg for any help. We’re still trying to find out. He collapsed at the stadium, was given cpr, was taken by Uber to hospital and died according to Celine. We just spoke with the state department and Celine has spoken to Ron Klain and the White House.”
