Saweetie Talks About How Her Music “Changed The Game”
Saweetie won 2022’s Game Changer award at the Billboard Women in Music Awards last night. Her beautiful mother, Trinidad Valentin, presented her with the award and Saweetie dedicated her win to “all of the game changers, the brave ones, the fighters, and the disruptive innovators who bet on themselves when no one else would.”
She concluded her speech, “They can doubt us but one thing they can’t do is ignore us. I would rather keep changing the weather than report it.”
While speaking with Billboard reporter Chelsea Briggs on the red carpet, Saweetie talked more about being a game-changer and even shared how her music has “changed the game.” Here’s what she had to say:
“I definitely feel like my approach with music, my approach with all the steps that I’ve taken have definitely been disruptive and I gave a new look to what the modern day artist is. Whether it’s in hip-hop, pop, whatever you want to call it. I’m really grateful for this ‘cause me and my team really worked hard and we definitely changed the game.”
