Can’t stop the chop! Just a week after word broke that the Bad Boy founder ran the fade with a fellow inmate at FCI Fort Dix, the Federal Bureau of Prisons updated its records and surprisingly, Diddy’s release date just got moved up yet again.
According to TMZ citing the official BOP records, Diddy is now slated to walk free on January 24, 2028. That fresh January date slices another month off his time, moving him up from his previous release date of February 23, 2028.

Diddy’s timeline has been shifting like a game of musical chairs ever since he was handed a 50-month sentence. He was originally slated to stick around until June 2028, but thanks to sentence reductions, including shaved time after enrolling in a prison drug rehab program, his countdown keeps getting shorter.
As previously reported, the 56-year-old music mogul ended up locked in solitary confinement, the Special Housing Unit, after getting into an altercation with another inmate who allegedly tried to throw dirt on his name. A source told the outlet that after the inmate dissed him, words turned into pushes and punches, but Puff ultimately “held his own” before prison staff stepped in to break up the melee.
When TMZ reached out to officials about the incident and potential punishment, a Fort Dix spokesperson kept things strictly classified, stating, “We are not at liberty to disclose or provide internal information pertaining to any inmate in our custody. Such information would not be available for the public domain.”
While fans and critics speculated that throwing hands would strip his good behavior credits and lengthen his bid, the Bureau of Prisons’ official clock says otherwise for now. Whether this new 2028 date holds up through the rest of his sentence remains to be seen, but as of right now, Puff is still beating the clock.
