A youth softball game in Sugar Land, Texas, ended in a violent confrontation that left two people injured and resulted in criminal charges against a set of parents, according to ABC Eyewitness News.

The incident occurred at Imperial Park during a game between two 12-year-old softball teams. Kiarious Marshun Hall and his wife, Jazmine Hall, were attending their daughter’s game when an argument reportedly began over Marshun’s behavior during the opposing team’s at-bats.

According to police and court records, a man associated with the Timbergrove Thunder approached Hall and told him that he should not cheer before the players delivered their pitches.

The exchange reportedly escalated quickly.

Investigators said video from the game showed Hall striking a man in the face with a metal water bottle. The impact allegedly knocked the man unconscious.

Hall is also accused of striking a second man, identified as grandfather Gary Greaser, who attempted to intervene and separate the two men.

“I said, ‘You can’t do this,’” Greaser said. “I took him, I wanted to disarm the guy, because he’s going to do it to somebody else.”

Greaser said the dispute began when people objected to Hall becoming loud immediately before pitches.

“We’re saying, ‘Hey, why are you getting loud?’ It’s bad sportsmanship to do it right as the pitch comes up when our girls are batting, and that’s all it took,” Greaser said. “He just flipped and said, ‘I can do whatever I want, I can say whatever I want. And you can’t stop me.’”

Hall later told investigators that he acted in self-defense, claiming he had been “elbowed and poked” in the chest. However, court documents state that investigators did not believe the video supported his account.

Police records also accuse Jazmine Hall of pushing Greaser during the confrontation. The two reportedly fell into nearby bushes before bystanders intervened and broke up the fight.

Sugar Land police arrested both Kiarious Marshun Hall and Jazmine Hall after the incident. They were booked into the Fort Bend County Jail.

Marshun Hall was charged with assault causing bodily injury. The case remains pending, and the allegations against him have not been proven in court.

Jazmine Hall, who worked as an assistant principal at Lamar Junior High School, resigned from her position Monday following the incident.

Lamar Consolidated Independent School District confirmed that it was aware of the situation but emphasized that the altercation did not occur at a school-sponsored event.

“Lamar CISD is aware of the incident involving a Lamar Junior High School employee,” the district said in a statement. “The employee voluntarily reported the incident to the district’s human resources department over the weekend. The incident occurred outside of school and was not associated with any Lamar CISD-sponsored event or activity.”

The brawl has drawn attention because it occurred at a game involving children and began over conduct during play. Parents, coaches, and spectators are now facing renewed questions about sportsmanship and the responsibility of adults to maintain a safe environment at youth sporting events.
