Imagine casually driving home, thinking you’re about to have a smooth relaxing ride but find a random man hiding in the back seat of your car! That’s exactly what happened to one woman in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
According to the Yarmouth Police Department, an officer was driving and noticed the woman’s vehicle. He initially assumed there was something wrong with her car but found her trying to call 911. “She appeared to be scared and upset as she explained to the officer what had just occurred,” read a press release. “
The woman said she did not notice anything out of the ordinary after leaving her friend’s house, but a short time later a light came on inside her car while driving,” the release also said. “As she looked into the back seat, she was surprised to see a man hiding with a coat pulled over his head.” Cops also told WBZ News, “She said it was so creepy and that she was terrified. She “began to scream” upon the discovery … before the male did the same.” The scar sight prompted the woman to drive “erratically.” Meanwhile the guy “fell out of the open rear door of the car.”
So Who Was The Random Guy?
A man identified as 36-year-old Jailton Dos Santos was eventually arrested. He was taken in on charges of breaking into a vehicle in the nighttime. He entered a not-guilty plea and his bail was set to $3,000.
Police did not give any indication of why Dos Santos was in the unnamed woman’s vehicle. No motive behind the alleged crime has also not been shared yet.

However, while sharing a message to the public, the department said in the statement,
“The Yarmouth Police would like to remind everyone to make sure they lock their unattended vehicles, especially at night,” added authorities.
This incident comes just a year after another woman driving from Rhode Island to Massachusetts discovered a naked man in the back of her SUV.
The woman told officers at the time that she was listening to a podcast during her drive to work, and didn’t notice anything until she pulled into her workplace parking lot and discovered him.
Police said officers found the man asleep with a pair of shorts around one leg and a shirt wrapped around an arm, “leaving the rest of his body uncovered.” After waking him up, “he had consumed a large amount of alcohol and marijuana earlier in the evening.”
That man was charged with breaking and entering into a vehicle. He also had an outstanding warrant for breaking and entering in Cranston, Rhode Island.
