Christopher Gregor,31, was on trial for the murder of his 6-year-old son Corey Micciolo. The disturbing incident was caught on surveillance video, which allegedly shows Gregor subjecting the boy to a grueling treadmill workout at the Atlantic Heights Clubhouse Fitness Center on March 20, 2021.

Prosecutors argued that the abusive exercise session led to Corey’s death from internal injuries two weeks later. However, the defense claims that his death was caused by pneumonia, not physical abuse, and Gregor’s attorney, Mario Gallucci, stated in his opening remarks that the video workout was “disturbing” but insisted that it did not lead to Corey’s passing. The video reportedly shows Gregor forcing his son onto a treadmill, increasing the speed and incline to a point where Corey could not keep up, resulting in multiple falls. Despite the distressing falls, Gregor is seen repeatedly placing his son back on the treadmill before eventually lowering the speed.
Corey’s mother, Breanna Micciolo, testified in court that she saw unusual bruises and scapes on her son following the workout. She also described an odd-shaped bruise on his forehead and a scape on his chest. After a visit to the pediatrician, he didn’t show any immediate alarms despite the boy explaining that his father put him on the treadmill because “he was too fat.” Corey’s condition deteriorated rapidly after the visit. On April 2, 2021, he showed symptoms like slurred speech and nausea, prompting an emergency room visit where he was pronounced dead, as reported by the New York Post.

During the court hearing, a medical examiner’s report ruled Corey’s death as a homicide resulting from chronic child abuse, noting severe blunt injuries to his chest and abdomen and a laceration to his heart. Gregor was arrested and charged with murder in March 2022. Micciolo also disclosed under cross-examination that she and her friends vandalized Gregor’s parents’ home after her son’s death, which involved throwing eggs and dead fish at the property.
