When the mic is down, comedian Michael Blackson is still going to work!
The 50-year-old entertainer announced that he has opened his very own school in Ghana! That’s right! The star shared that the Michael Blackson Academy, which is located in the comedian’s hometown of Agona Nsaba, will offer free tuition to all students that attend.
Celebrating the amazing moment, Blackson shared a video to his social media accounts, along with the caption that read, “Today is the greatest day of my life because I’ve finally accomplished what I always wanted to do which is giving these kids a chance to be great. Greatness starts with education and foundational education shouldn’t come with financial barriers.”

In an Instagram post, Blackson continued to explain his initiative: “I want our children to be able to dream big just like I did, School taught me discipline and built me a path to dream big. Thank you America for giving me the opportunity to create this platform and providing me with the ability to strengthen my talents and to make such an impact that I am making today in order to bless my village with a free education.”
Blackson has been talking about this for a while now. He first started construction on the project back in 2020. Last month, he gave an update on the school before its big opening. He shared with his fans in December, “Finally it’s all done and the kids in my village will all go to school for free. Thanks to all my fans that supported me thru out the years, every ticket you bought to my show helped a kid. MichaelBlacksonFoundation.org.”
Social media users have been praising Blackson online for his latest accomplishment. One fan said, “I hope our fake so called celebs are watching and learning instead of throwing monies on the streets thinking that’s how to make an impact in people’s lives.” Another said, “I know a lot of young men who are dreaming of transforming this country with their little efforts. Let’s all forget about the government and do good for our mother Ghana.” A third added on Twitter, “Big Ups to Michael Blackson. Man opened a free school in Ghana!”
