Lil Nas X Admits He Was Jealous Of Billie Eilish After She Won ROTY at 2020 Grammys: ‘It Wasn’t Fair’
While speaking with British GQ Style, Lil Nas X admits he was jealous of Billie Eilish after she won Record of the Year (ROTY) at the 2020 Grammys — he called it “unfair.” As a refresher, Billie’s “BAD GUY” won over “Old Town Road.” Eilish’s ‘WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?’ also beat Lil Nas’ ‘7’ for Album of the Year (AOTY).
Lil Nas opened up about the defeat, claiming he was in this feelings and had to check himself. “Damn, but how? I have the biggest song. That isn’t fair.” The 22-year-old star says months later during the coronavirus quarantine, he was forced to deal with things. He says, “I put all that energy I was feeling onto [Billie]. It became jealousy that wasn’t warranted. You have the longest-running number one song, why the f**k are you jealous about this award? We are already so blessed. Even if you don’t have these things, you’re here. You’re still alive. You exist. You shouldn’t have any reason to be jealous.”
Continuing to speak on his evolving vulnerability, Lil Nas says with his upcoming album ‘Montero,’ due in the Summer, “You’re getting vulnerable Nas. You’re getting Happy Nas. You’re getting Nas in Love. You’re getting Simp Nas. You’re getting bad b*tch Nas. You’re getting hood n***a Nas. You’re getting all of it, y’know. You’re getting all of me. I feel so free. For the first time in my life, these last couple of months, I’m just like, ‘I can do whatever.’”
