While comparing Black Country Music artists and White Country artists, K. Michelle calls out Shaboozey, claiming he ignored her request for a feature after he first praised her, and that he allegedly doesn’t like Black women.
On Monday (August 3), K. Michelle appeared on ‘The Breakfast Club, where she talked about her music career, marriage, reality TV journey, and more. During the conversation, K. Michelle said, “I’ve watched Black Country singers won’t work with and treat their own more f**ked up than White Country artists trying to understand our culture and all of that.”
TBC host Charlamagne Tha God asked, “So, you’ve reached out to Black Country singers to collab and they didn’t want to work?” K. Michelle said:
“Ohhh. There’s only 15 of us in the city [Nashville, Tennessee] that’s really there. So, like Mickey Guyton has always supported me. I just saw her do a post the other day about me. All of that. My thing is—OK. He can get mad at me and say whatever. But, Shaboozey.”
K. Michelle Slams Fellow Country Music Artist Shaboozey And Alleges He Doesn’t Like Black Women
K. Michelle continued to recall the Nigerian-American’s introduction into the Country Music scene and him looking up to her. She recalled, “I looked in my DM and saw he was like, ‘You’re the GOAT.’ This and all of that.” She continued to claim he would respond to her different posts on Instagram, like him wanting a plate of whatever she was cooking.
K. Michelle said they exchanged numbers and eventually her A&R rep called her claiming he was looking for her. However, when K. Michelle texted Shaboozey about a feature, she claimed he ghosted her. After recalling the incident, the singer fired off, “B*tch I don’t need no feature from you. ‘Cause once they find out you don’t like Black women, it’s over for you anyway.”
The singer quickly remembered she was on-air and said, “Well, I probably wasn’t supposed to say that. You can cut that.” She continued, “But, I just think that’s just weird. Again, we do each other so bad. We do each other so bad.” TBC host Jess Hilarious asked if the singer believes Black Country artists are chasing White validation. She replied:
“Yeah. But, I think a lot of people do it. Like, great job at that. But, the core of things—you chase the validation of wanting to show the Black people you’re Black. And then you go to a Black girl. ‘Let me go to this Black girl and tell her she’s the GOAT.’ And then do this, and this and that. It’s just kind of how it is. There are people that aren’t Black, that will go so hard for you, harder than your own. It’s hurtful.”
