‘Juwanna Mann’ Star Miguel A. Nunez Jr. Confirms Sequel Is Coming
The streets been asking for it, and Miguel A. Nunez Jr. just gave us the confirmation we’ve been waiting on — “Juwanna Mann 2” is officially in the works. During a recent chat with TMZ Sports, the actor revealed that not only is the sequel moving forward, but he’s also got his eye on two of the most talked-about WNBA stars in the game right now — Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese.
Nunez, best known for his unforgettable role as Jamal Jeffries in the 2002 basketball comedy, told TMZ that the project is still alive and well. “People just need to hang tight,” he said, reminding fans that Hollywood doesn’t move fast — especially when it comes to cult classics.
“It’s The Perfect Time For This Story” — Nunez Says The World’s Ready For ‘Juwanna Mann 2’
In the original “Juwanna Mann”, Nunez played a male basketball star who disguises himself as a woman to join a women’s league after being banned from the pros — a plotline that stirred plenty of laughs and controversy back in the early 2000s.
Now, more than 20 years later, Nunez says the timing for the sequel couldn’t be better. He believes the world’s ready to revisit that story — but with a twist that speaks to today’s conversations around sports, identity, and gender.
When asked whether that same plotline would work in 2025, Nunez said it’s “actually the perfect moment” for it. The actor explained that audiences now have the cultural awareness and humor to handle the subject in a fresh, meaningful way.
“People can laugh but also think,” he told TMZ. “That’s what good comedy does.”
Miguel A. Nunez Jr. Wants Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese To Join The Cast
If you thought the sequel couldn’t get any better — Nunez says he’s already got a dream lineup in mind. The actor told TMZ he wants Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, two fierce WNBA rivals, to play roles in “Juwanna Mann 2.”
With the two women dominating headlines and pushing women’s basketball into the mainstream, their inclusion would definitely bring a new level of authenticity and cultural impact to the film.
And, of course, Nunez didn’t hold back when joking about how he’d fit into the mix.
“I’d beat [Caitlin’s] ass and I’d marry Angel Reese.”
It’s that same quick wit and energy that made “Juwanna Mann” such a standout comedy. Nunez clearly plans to keep the same humor alive — just with a 2025 edge.
