On Monday (July 27), Los Angeles Judge Charlaine Olmedo ruled that D4vd, 21, will stand trial in the Celeste Rivas Hernandez murder case after prosecutors provided sufficient evidence — including signs of blood where the 14-year-old’s body was likely cut up, alleged texts of the teen threatening to kill the singer sent a day before she went to his home and never left, plus more probable cause for a trial.

D4vd is facing charges of murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14 and unlawful mutilation of human remains. During the 5-day preliminary hearing, authorities alleged the singer, born David Burke, played a significant role in the killing and dismemberment of the teen.

They also claimed she had threatened to expose their relationship and end his career before her death. Prosecutors alleged Rivas Hernandez threatened D4vd. After her stream of texts messages, she went to his home the next day.

However, her phone went permanently silent after arriving shortly before 10 a.m. on April 23, 2025. She arrived in an Uber he had sent to pick her up. Her final text read, “girly pop i’m almost there open ur door if ur home.” Prosecutors alleged the singer stabbed the teen to death when she came came through the door. The night before, the two argued about his relationship with another woman.

The teen sent him an angry and explicit text saying she would tell her dad lies about him and added, “i will end ur career and ur life.” According to ABC News, D4vd had no visible reaction to the judge’s decision to stand trial. Meanwhile, his defense team declined to comment outside the courthouse.
