Jamal Edwards, YouTuber And Pioneering Music Entrepreneur Who Helped Launch The Careers Of Artists Like Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, & Skepta, Dies At 31
Socialites, it is with our deepest regret to inform you that British entrepreneur and YouTube star Jamal Edwards has sadly passed away at the age of 31.
His mother, broadcaster Brenda Edwards, shared the news Monday. She wrote: “I confirm that my beautiful son Jamal Edwards passed away yesterday morning after a sudden illness. Myself, his sister Tanisha, and the rest of his family and friends are completely devastated. He was the center of our world. As we come to terms with his passing, we asked for privacy to grieve this unimaginable loss. I would like to thank everyone for their messages of love and support. Jamal was an inspiration to myself and so many. Our love for him lives on, his legacy lives on. Long live Jamal Edwards MBE, MBA, Ph.D.”
Jamal was known for his media platform SBTV, which he launched in 2006. It was a platform that highlighted emerging artists and helped launched careers of some of the world’s most successful musicians today including Ed Sheeran, Dave, Jessie J, Skepta, and more. The SBTV YouTube channel now boasts 1.2 million subscribers and nearly 1 billion total views.
