According to Page Six, officers and EMS rolled up around 1:50 p.m. after a call came in about an unresponsive female and a suspected “overdose,” at the location. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that the 911 call further described the situation as a person in “cardiac arrest.” Paramedics didn’t waste a second. Sources say they hit her with advanced cardiac life support, the real deal treatment that stacks CPR with medication, breathing tubes, and heart rhythm monitoring. Chest compressions too. But sadly, nothing brought her back, and she was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m.

Further details reveal an acquaintance placed the call, according to the official statement from Greenville police. At this time, it’s still not confirmed whether that person was her longtime on-again, off-again boyfriend Brian Hickerson, a name that’s carried its own heavy history with Hayden.
Police were quick to squash any conspiracy talk before it could spiral. In their statement, they said the preliminary investigation hasn’t turned up any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances. Still, the case remains under investigation alongside the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, and an autopsy is expected to determine the official cause of death.
The tragedy carries an extra weight for anyone who’s followed Hayden’s story closely. This is the same family that buried her younger brother, Jansen Panettiere, back in 2023 he was only 28 when he was found unresponsive in his New York apartment, later revealed to have died from an enlarged heart.
Hayden had opened up publicly about how that loss shook her to her core, admitting it left her dealing with agoraphobia and real physical changes in the aftermath. Now the family is grieving all over again.
Her father, Alan “Skip” Panettiere, broke the news himself in a statement. He called his daughter “an incredible light and a force of nature” who brought love and joy to everyone who knew her — and to millions who only knew her from the screen. Hayden would’ve turned 37 this Friday, August 21. She leaves behind her daughter Kaya, whom she shares with former heavyweight boxing champ Wladimir Klitschko, Hayden had reportedly stepped back from custody years ago because she believed it was best for her little girl’s stability.
