Harvey Weinstein Rape Case: Jury Deadlocked On Two Charges

It appears that jurors on the Harvey Weinstein rape trial are deadlocked, this in regards to the two heaviest counts against the ex-movie mogul — predatory sexual assault; which carries a possible life sentence by itself.

Before sending jurors back for a second round of deliberations, Judge James Burke advised that all verdicts must be unanimous, adding, it is “common to have difficulty reaching a verdict” and to “believe you can never reach a verdict,” but most juries do eventually come to a consensus.

Currently, Weinstein’s facing five criminal counts, including the two aforementioned; and now the jury want to know if they can legally be “hung” on those two, and unanimous on the three other counts. Justice Burke told them to continue deliberating.

The note was sent to Burke on the fourth day of deliberations, leaving prosecutors to request that they keep working on the case. Since, Burke and the attorneys on both sides continue to consult.
