The White House press office has become a revolving door, and the latest person asked to spin it is a man who runs a cage-fighting empire…
On Saturday, President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that UFC CEO Dana White has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States, praising him as “a violent Fighter and Warrior.”
“I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States,” Trump wrote on Truth Social platform.
“I have requested that he bring with him assistants, even though some are not from our Country, of Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harris,” Trump added. “We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job! President DONALD J. TRUMP”
The job came open just over two weeks ago, when Katie Zacharia exited after only five days. Her first briefing ran about five minutes and was followed by questions over whether she was a lawyer, as she had claimed. Mother Jones reports that if White says yes, he would be Trump’s seventh press secretary. At this pace the podium needs a “now hiring” sign and a punch card.
White has no fighting record or governmental record, and has owned the UFC since 2001. He also co-leads Zuffa Boxing, a venture with the head of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, so it’s unclear how a federal gig would fit around his day job. Still, the man knows how to run a show. Last June, his company built a tarantula-like stage on the White House lawn to host a birthday cage fight for the President.
Compared to that, handling a room full of reporters sounds like a Tuesday.
