Looks like a Florida man found himself behind bars on Father’s Day after being wanted for urging his pregnant teen daughter to kill herself on her birthday.
According to The NY Post, Gared Wayne Canales, 34, was captured in Massachusetts. Canales was reportedly on the phone with his daughter in April and told her she was “worthless,” and urged her to “kill yourself, just don’t say it.” After hearing those disturbing comments made by her dad the pregnant teenager reportedly cut herself and swallowed 14 Benadryl pills but survived.

According to court documents Canales verbally abused his daughter during that phone call in April, calling her a b*tch and also other hurtful words. “You’re not worth it,” Canales told her, the victim reported to police. “I choose my girlfriend over you anyway, and go kill yourself.”
The next night the teen reportedly attempted to kill herself again. She cut her wrist with a knife. Then the night after that the teen noticed a photo framed with a picture of her and her dad and she smashed the picture gram and took the pieces of glass to slice her wrist again.
Two days later, while traveling in a car with her mother, the girl took a total of 14 Benadryl pills. Her parent took her to a local hospital where she had her stomach pumped and survived the incident.
She told staffers at the facility she “attempted suicide due to her father stating to go kill herself,” papers state.
The victim later told investigators that she wanted to press charges against her father and an arrest warrant was issued on April 14.
Detectives located him in Massachusetts this weekend and he is now being held on $10,000 bond on a felony child abuse charge, papers state.
Officials entered a restraining order barring Canales from contacting his daughter.
According to Flaglerlive, Canales’ cousin, Jonathan Canales, is serving life in prison for attempting to kill his girlfriend and mother of his child in 2014.
