A group of firefighters is facing backlash after uploading a photo of themselves posing in front of a home engulfed in flames.

According to MLive, the picture was posted Tuesday on the Facebook page Detroit Fire Incidents Page with the caption: “Crews take a moment to get a selfie on New Years!” Detroit Fire Commissioner Eric Jones said an investigation is currently underway and disciplinary action will be taken. Jone also noted that the group was celebrating a battalion’s retirement.

“There are a lot of ways to celebrate a retirement.Taking a photo in front of a building fire is not one of them. Ninety-nine percent of the men and women who go to a scene like that and know what to do.Behind every fire is a devastated family or property owner.”

More than three thousand people commented on the photo and called it “inappropriate” based on the context of the background.

“I hope that was a staged fire. I’d hate to think my firemen (were) posing for pictures while a real house was burning.”
