Lawyer Michael Avenatti was released from the Manhattan Correctional Center early Friday after making $1 million bail.
According to the Daily Mail, Michael Avenatti was granted an early release around 11 am after making bail and will be under quarantine for the next two weeks. Officials say he will be staying at a friend’s home in California. Prior to his release, Avenatti served time in jail for his conviction of attempting to extort Nike for $25 million in February. He facing more criminal trials for defrauding former client Stormy Daniels and other clients in Los Angeles out of millions of dollars.

His attorney, H.Dean Howard, filed a motion with the court last month asking for temporary release since Avenatti is susceptible to pneumonia and was dealing with an inmate who had flu-like symptoms.

The motion further explained in the event that Avenatti is granted an early release, he should be released under electronic monitoring and an agreed amount of bail money until the pandemic is over. Avenatti lived under 24-hour surveillance and stuck in “solitary confinement.” Under the terms of his release, Howard will accompany Avenatti until he arrives at his friend, Jay Manheimer’s home in Venice Beach.
He is not allowed to leave unless it’s for medical emergencies and must be approved by Pretrial Services. Avenatti is also prohibited from using devices with internet access and must use a data-free cellphone to communicate with his family and attornies. His spending limit cannot exceed $500.
