Could Kendrick Lamar win a Grammy or Grammys for his hit song “Not Like Us?” Well, it looks like he has a pretty great chance of leaving the 67th Awards as a winner!
The rap star didn’t receive just one or two nominations this year; he scored seven in total for his hot track including, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Music Video.
Kendrick Lamar’s song “Not Like Us” was released on May 4, 2024. It was one of many diss tracks aimed at fellow rapper Drake. However, when he dropped this one, it resonated with everyone and ultimately led to the Toronto rapper taking a big “L” in Hip-Hop.
“Not Like Us” landed at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on May 18, 2024. Thanks to its popularity, it also broke the records for Most Weeks at No. 1 on the Hot Rap Songs Chart. This culture-shaping hit overtook “Old Town Road” as the longest-running champion in the chart’s 35-year history.

Last month, the 37-year-old explained in an interview for Harper’s Bazaar what his track “Not Like Us” meant to him. While Lamar did not mention the individual (Drizzy Drake) who inspired the song anywhere in the interview, he stated that “Not Like Us” reflects his own morals and values.
“Not like us? Not like us is the energy of who I am, the type of man I represent,” Lamar explained. “Now, if you identify with the man that I represent … This man has morals, he has values, he believes in something, he stands on something. He’s not pandering.”
He continued, “He’s a man who can recognize his mistakes and not be afraid to share the mistakes and can dig deep down into fear-based ideologies or experiences to be able to express them without feeling like he’s less of a man. If I’m thinking of ‘Not Like Us,’ I’m thinking of me and whoever identifies with that.”
2025 is going to be off to a great start for Lamar, as he not only gets to headline the big Super Bowl halftime show in February but may also sweep multiple awards at the upcoming Grammys.
