Chris Brown Housekeepers Sue After Brutal And Bloody Dog Attack

As we previously shared in April 2021, Brown was sued by his cleaning lady who claimed she and her sister were viciously attacked by a dog in his home. In her $90 million lawsuit, Patricia Avila claimed Brown hired her and her sister, Maria Avila, to clean his home in Tarzana, California for $600 a day, twice a week.

Patricia said she and Maria were aware of the dogs in Bown’s home and that he kept them in a separate area on the property during their work hours. However, she said one day, one of the dogs, a 110-220-pound Caucasian Shepherd Ovcharka, made its way into the backyard as Maria cleaned out a vacuum.

Patricia alleged the dog bit into the sister’s arm, “ripping 3 to 4 inches of skin off her arm,” and then bit her face and legs. Patricia said she managed to free Maria from the dog — which allegedly had a history of aggressive behavior. She said she feared her sister was going to die due to the significant amount of blood loss.

The lawsuit claimed Maria underwent multiple surgeries and has since suffered from emotional and physical injures, including PTSD, anxiety, and panic attacks. The lawsuit has accused Brown of neglecting to protect the Avila sisters from the dog.

Judge Declares Mistrial After Chris Brown’s Housekeepers Sues Over Bloody Dog Attack

Fast forward to June 16, 2026, when a judge declared a mistrial one day after trial began. Rolling Stone reported a juror had searched for information about the case prior to the trial and had shared that information with others.

During the trial, Brown countered Patricia and Maria Avila’s allegations, denying any wrongdoing. He also testified that the dog did not belong to him, but to his head of security. He said the dog did stay on his property as a guard dog, along with others canines.

Brown added that Maria also lived on-site for 6-8 months. He said he warned her to not go into the backyard — the same rule he follows with his children. The singer denied taking full responsibility, admitting, “I’m not 100% responsible for it, but I accept what happened.” He continued to explain the purpose of the dogs at his home. He said he had experienced several “break-ins and stalker situations, so we have a security problem due to my celebrity status.”

While recalling the incident, Brown said he was upstairs when he heard growling outside. He ran outside and saw Maria lying face down in the driveway. He opted against calling 911 out of fear of a “media circus.” However, he added, “But I stayed beside her to check to make sure she was okay.”

Brown called his business manager, who then called 911, and the ambulance came. He said he never left the scene and stayed with Maria until security arrived. He also said he doesn’t know what happened to the surveillance video footage from the scene. Additionally, he shared that he didn’t know police wanted to speak with him after he eventually left the scene.
