Somewhere out there, a kid with a notebook full of bars or a laptop full of beats is about to get the best news of their life. A$AP Rocky never went to college, but he’s giving an aspiring creative a chance to earn a degree tuition-free, and the Harlem native isn’t doing it halfway.
Rocky will be covering not one but all four years of tuition at the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment at Long Island University in Brooklyn. He announced it on a day he was set to perform in Zagreb, Croatia, which means he was changing a stranger’s future before he even hit the stage.
On why he’s doing this, Rocky said the scholarship is about helping one of them turn that vision into something real. He simply wants to open a door he didn’t walk through himself, and that’s the kind of full-circle energy we like to see. So here’s how it works. The scholarship goes to a first-time freshman, and applications close on December 15, 2026. Whoever lands it will start in the fall of 2027. Only one student gets the full ride from Rocky, so if you know a young creative with real talent, get them that link today.

The school itself is worth a look. The Roc Nation School launched at LIU in 2021, and it has about 300 students on campus in Brooklyn across six bachelor of arts programs, three of them in music: applied music, vocal performance, and music technology, entrepreneurship and production. The campus sits in Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter’s hometown of Brooklyn, so the culture is baked into the zip code. The students also need the help. About 99 percent of them receive some form of financial aid.
Rocky isn’t the first big name to put money behind the school, either. DJ Khaled, Megan Thee Stallion and LaMelo Ball have all established scholarships there, and so has Young Guru, who also directs the Music Technology, Entrepreneurship & Production program. That’s a pretty stacked bench, and the pattern is getting hard to ignore. Artists are putting their own money behind tuition instead of just posting about it.
The school also gives Roc Nation Hope Scholarships to 25 percent of its enrolled students, which lets those recipients graduate on a full-tuition scholarship.
As many are aware, student debt is a weight that sits heaviest on the shoulders of Black families, and a clean four years of tuition can change what a kid decides to risk. A student who doesn’t have to stress about a bill every semester can spend that energy on the studio, the stage and the business side of the game. That’s the real value here, and it goes well past the headline.
If you’re a high school senior with bars, beats or business ideas, don’t sleep on this. The deadline is December 15, and somebody is about to get a life-changing email. It might as well be you. Click link here
