A$AP Rocky, 38, recently jokingly revealed how “it was hell” at home after spilling the beans and teasing new music from his wifey Rihanna, 38.
The Bajan singer’s last studio album was ‘Anti.’ It marked her eighth studio album and it was released in January 2016. Over a decade later, fans are still impatiently awaiting her ninth album — which they have unofficially dubbed ‘R9.’
As we await the highly-anticipated project, RiRi has been holding fans over with standalone tracks and guest features, plus her other releases via her Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty companies.
A month after ‘Anti’ turned 10, Rihanna teased new music. In late February 2026, she shared a vlog, in which we saw her in the studio with a pen and pad. About five months later, A$AP Rocky continued to tease new music from Rihanna’.
A$AP Rocky Reveals Rihanna Is In The Studio Make Music
During the August 5 episode of ‘The Jason Lee Show’ on BET, host Jason Lee jokingly pressed Rocky about delaying Rihanna’s ninth album. Lee highlighted the fact that the couple have welcomed three children back-to-back: RZA Athelston Mayers, 4; Riot Rose Mayers, 3; and Rocki Irish Mayers, 1.
Lee asked, “Are you the reason we don’t have an album?” Rocky declared, “Nah.” He continued to reveal, “Yo, she in the studio right now.” Rocky looked at the camera and added:
“Yeah, I said it. Sorry, babe. Yeah, bro she’s working—she’s cooking, bro. No funny sh*t. Damn, I’mma get in trouble for this. Her fans gon’ kill me.”
Lee also proposed the idea of a joint Rihanna and Rocky album. However, the Harlem rapper shut it down, stating, “Nope. Nope. I would hate a Rocky and Rihanna. That’s trash. Nobody wants to hear us together.”
About two months later, Rihanna eventually revealed how many unreleased songs she’s sitting on. During her Fenty Beauty TikTok Shop livestream on October 6, she said, “If they are ten products in a vault, then I have at least 17 vaults.”
Nearly two weeks later, Rocky was asked if he got in trouble for his big tease back in August. On Saturday (October 17), Rocky attended the Academy Museum Gala. While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, he revealed what happened after he teased new music from Rihanna. He started laughing and quipped, “It was hell.”
He continued to chuckle and through his laughs, he added, “Yeah, I shouldn’t have done that.” When asked if he wanted to clarify anything, Rocky dryly replied, “No, I want to mind my business.” He continued to chuckle as the clip ended.
