Lionel Richie just brought the shade! The music legend appeared to take a dig at Chris Brown during a recent concert, and the internet is absolutely buzzing.
While performing alongside Earth, Wind & Fire, Richie took a moment to chat with the crowd about the current R&B tour featuring Chris Brown and Usher. Comparing their current run to his own touring days with The Commodores and Earth, Wind & Fire, he suggested the pairing wasn’t exactly a new concept.
Then, he dropped the line that has everyone talking. “Only difference is, between then and now, we didn’t go to jail!” Richie told the crowd before flashing a smile and seemingly apologizing.
It didn’t take long for Chris Brown to catch wind of the viral moment. He hopped into the comments section of an Instagram post from @sunny1043az, writing, “😂😂😂😂 damn unk. We love ya paw paw.”
The jab was clearly a nod to Brown’s well-documented legal history. Brown recently pleaded guilty to attacking a music producer at a London nightclub, adding to a long list of legal troubles that dates back to his 2009 felony assault conviction involving Rihanna.
