6ix9ine’s Instagram Account Will Stay Up Despite Uproar Since He Is Not Violating “Sex Offender Policy”
Following renewed uproar over the rapper’s criminal history which prompted calls for his Instagram page to be taken down, it looks like his account won’t be going anywhere since Tekashi 6ix9ine did not violate the company’s “sex offender” policy.

As TMZ notes, 6ix9ine got into some legal trouble way before he became super famous. Back in 2015 when he was 18, he pled guilty to one count of Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance. Prosecutors say Tekashi was at a party where a nude 13-year-old girl was filmed performing sex acts on a man, and the rapper was seen making thrusting motions behind her and slapping her butt at one point. His attorney Lance Lazzaro reportedly told TMZ that after he completed some sentencing requirements, the court granted him youthful offender status.
Now, although that happened some time ago, Tekashi has been pretty active on social media since going No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with his song “Trollz” with Nicki Minaj. It made folks question why he’s even allowed to have an IG since Facebook — the parent company — has explicit terms saying convicted sex offenders are barred from the platform. However, after FB said his account would be put under review, it was later determined that Tekashi is NOT technically in violation of FB/IG’s sex offender policy, at least that’s how they’re viewing it, TMZ reports.
Tekashi has addressed the conviction himself while appearing on the Breakfast Club. While speaking with the hosts, he said he did not know the girl was underage.
