Contrary to popular belief, some of the best actors and actresses have never received an Academy Awards throughout their careers. Here are ten actors who have never received an Oscar.

 

1. Samuel L. Jackson

Samuel Jackson has appeared in over 100 films throughout his decades-long career. He has received an Oscar nomination for his acting in Pulp Fiction but didn’t win.

2. Jim Carrey

The eclectic comedian-actor has won the hearts of millions since his debut on the television show, In Living Color. He’s starred in comedies such as Liar Liar, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective to serious roles in The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine For The Spotless Mind. He never received an Oscar nomination for these roles.

3. Will Smith

The raptor(rapper and actor get it?) has starred in multiple box office hits such as the Bad Boys Trilogy, Men In Black, Independence Day, and I Am Legend. He only received two Oscar nominations for Ali and The Pursuit of Happiness. 

4.  John Travolta

The actor has never won an Oscar throughout his 40-year career in the industry despite being in films such as Grease and Face/Off. He received two nominations for Saturday Night Fever and Pulp Fiction with co-star Samuel Jackson.

5. Scarlett Johansson

The high profile actress has earned two nominations this year for Marriage Story despite being well known for her role at Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow for the Marvel franchise.

6. Mark Wahlberg

Mark Walhberg has appeared in multiple films since his debut as a rapper in the early 90s. He received two nominations for his roles in The Departed and The Fighter.

7.  Bruce Willis

The action star has appeared in dozens of films but has never received an Oscar for his most well-known roles.

8. Angela Bassett

Angela Bassett is known for her iconic roles as Tina Turner in What’s Love Got To Do With It and Betty Shabazz in Malcolm X. However, she never won an Oscar for these roles.

9. Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise is known for his variety of films such as Risky Business, Top Gun, and Jerry McGuire.  He has been nominated three times for Born on the Fourth of July, Jerry McGuire, and Magnolia. 

10. Lawrence Fishburne

Lawrence Fishburne started his career in the early 80s and has performed in iconic films such as The Matrix, Boyz N The Hood, and What’s Love Got To Do With It. However, he was only nominated for his portrayal as Ike Turner in What’s Love Got To Do With It.
