Zendaya Snags Her First Emmy Nomination For ‘Euphoria’

During Tuesday’s announcement of the 2020 Emmy Award nominations, the 23-year-old actress was named one of the nominees in the “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series” category for “Euphoria,” where she plays recovering drug addict named Rue on the series about high schoolers navigating love and sex, addiction and apps, Entertainment Tonight notes.

Following the exciting news, fans quickly took to social media to celebrate the star. The official Twitter account for the HBO series also wrote: “beyond proud of @zendaya for her OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS in a drama series nomination at this year’s #emmys !!!! 😭🥺”
Zendaya’s previously took home wins for Favorite Drama TV Star at the People’s Choice Awards and Best Actress in a Drama Series at the Satellite Awards for her work on “Euphoria.”
The 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards will be handed out Sunday, Sept. 20 during a live broadcast hosted by Jimmy Kimmel on ABC. As of right now, details about the event taking place amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic have yet to be announced.
