A Minnesota woman named Cyrena Anne Quast, 35, got booked last month and somehow her mugshot ended up breaking the internet, not because of what she allegedly did, but because folks swear she’s the spitting image of Jennifer Lopez. Like, twin, twin resemblance.

Quast, from St. Cloud, Minnesota, was arrested in Monticello on August 30 on a theft charge, according to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office. A criminal complaint obtained by The Watch MN alleges Quast stole two double packs of power tool batteries from a store in Monticello, worth about $580. A store employee reportedly recognized her from an alleged theft at the same shop two days earlier and called the police. When authorities questioned her, Quast admitted to taking the battery packs, according to the complaint.
Now normally that’s just a regular local news blurb, a shoplifting case that comes and goes without nobody outside the county even hearing about it. But a booking photo that would usually only be seen by a small number of people ended up spreading far beyond Minnesota because people thought the woman looked like one of the biggest stars in entertainment.
One person wrote, “Jenny from the cellblock. Minnesota woman, 35, arrested for swiping $580 in power-tool batteries. Mugshot looks exactly like JLo.” Another joked over the picture of her mug, “Jenny Steals From The Block.” A third added, “I’m sorry, but imagine getting arrested for stealing power tools and the internet’s biggest concern is: “WAIT… IS THAT J.LO?!” Ma’am allegedly said, “Don’t be fooled by the tools that I got…” I’ll see myself out. 🤣
As for Quast, the Daily Mail reported on her release following the arrest, and the legal case itself remains separate from the viral reaction to her appearance. So while the internet keeps clowning and comparing headshots, she’s dealing with an actual theft case back in Minnesota.
Despite internet memes and occasional rumors circulating online, Jennifer Lopez on the other hand has not been arrested nor had a real mugshot in recent history. J.Lo herself has stayed out of serious legal trouble over the years and has not publicly reacted or commented on the trending lookalike picture, maintaining her distance from the internet’s “Jenny from the Cell-Block” jokes.
