Wu-Tang Clan Imposters Sentenced For Scamming Hotels & Car Companies

Back in February, we shared that two men had been arrested for posing as Wu-Tang Clan members and scamming hotels and car companies, now the Wu-Tang Clan imposters have been sentenced to several years in prison.

The two men were identified as Walker Washington, 53 of Augusta, GA, and Aaron Barnes-Burpo, 29 of Crestview, FL, and were busted for scamming over $100,000 from various hotels and car companies in Atlanta, GA and surrounding states. They claimed they worked with Roc Nation and had listed themselves as Wu-Tang members to earn free hotel benefits, rent out a Rolls Royce Phantom, and production studios across multiple states.

On Thursday (Apr. 29), Washington was sentenced to 100 months in federal prison, with three years supervised release, after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud. He was also ordered to pay nearly $300,000 to 19 businesses defrauded in his and his partner’s scheme. Barnes-Burpo was previously sentenced to seven years after pleading guilty to the same charge, and he’s also ordered to pay $300,000 in restitution.
