According to the New York Post, the dating app called Wingman revealed multiple users named Karen were feeling unlucky after getting a few matches on the app. Also, they were receiving less engagement on the app and saw 31 percent fewer matches this year.

The purpose of the app is for the user to rely on friends to write real reviews about them so they can successfully land a date. A popular compliment on the app that ‘wingmen’ can say is that their friend is “She’s not a real Karen.”

The name has also declined in popularity for baby girls as reported by the Social Security Administration and has been at its lowest since the 1930s. Although the name has reached memetic status since the mid-2010s, it became more significant as it describes a self-entitled white woman who calls the police for minuscule or discriminatory reasons.
