Woman Sues Gov. Cuomo After Being Denied Entry Into Veterans Home Where Dying Husband Resides

Per TMZ, a woman named Mary Mauro is suing Gov. Andrew Cuomo after continuously being denied entry into a veterans home where her dying husband resides — despite them both being fully vaccinated.

Mauro says that due to Cuomo’s strict statewide COVID-19 policies, she hasn’t been able to visit her husband of 60 years, Mario — who’s been a resident of the Long Island State Veterans Home nursing facility since January. Although he contracted coronavirus once before, he’s since recovered, and again has been fully vaccinated.

In her suit, Mauro says her husband, who is battling advanced Alzheimer’s disease, has lost more than 30 pounds and is in danger of dying since she cannot help feed him. She also says she cannot make proper medical decisions since they’re being kept “from ever seeing each other again in a meaningful way.” Along with naming Gov. Cuomo, the Mauros are suing the nursing facility and the NY State Health Commissioner, Dr. Howard Zucker.
