According to CBS News, Ronni Newt, 26, was driving on the freeway around 5:15 p.m. on December 17 when a car-to-car shooting occurred on the northbound lanes in Tarzana near White Oak Ave. Newt’s vehicle crashed shortly after the shooting, and her father, Robert Newt, stated that his daughter was on her way to hang out with friends after work. The family initially thought she was in a car accident, but when they arrived at a nearby hospital, they discovered she had been shot.

Multiple shots were fired at Ronni’s car, according to investigators, and she was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and placed on life support. Doctors said Ronni  wouldn’t make it through the night, but she proved them wrong. The family is now asking witnesses to come forward with any information about the shooting..

“No one is saying, ‘It’s this color car, it’s that kinda make of a car, or you know, that they saw anything. We know this stuff happens. We all casually drive on the freeway and we see things. If you saw something, please call.”

Ronni is showing signs of brain activity and the family says they are praying for her recovery with the holidays coming up. The case is currently being investigated by the California Highway Patrol and no suspects have been identified for the shooting. In a report by KTLA, CHP is asking for dash cam recordings from 405 to Tampa Avenue within the timeframe between 4:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

We will provide more updates as more details are developed by investigators.
