A Texas woman named Abigail Jo Shry has been charged with threatening to kill the federal judge overseeing Donald Trump’s election interference case in Washington. This case has garnered significant attention due to its alarming nature and the implications it has for the safety of those involved in prosecuting Trump. Shry allegedly left a threatening voicemail message for U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, where she promised to “kill anyone who went after former President Trump.” The threats did not stop there, as Shry also targeted Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Washington Democrats, and the LGBTQ community in her disturbing message.
“Hey, you stupid slave n—-r,” she said about Chutkan. “You are in our sights, we want to kill you. If Trump doesn’t get elected in 2024, we are coming to kill you, so tread lightly, b**ch. You will be targeted personally, publicly, your family, all of it,” It is important to note that Shry admitted to making the call, but she claimed that she had no intentions of carrying out the threats. Nonetheless, she has been detained and now faces one count of making a threat to injure another person.

The safety concerns surrounding this case are further underscored by the fact that on the same day of Shry’s arrest, names and addresses of grand jurors in a separate vote tampering indictment in Georgia were shared on far-right message boards. This act of doxxing raises serious concerns about intimidation and violence towards those involved in the legal proceedings against Trump. Some users on the message board even referred to the grand jurors as a “hit list” and suggested following and photographing them.
These incidents shed light on the need for increased security measures and protections for judges and other individuals involved in high-stakes cases. Trump’s attacks on judges and his warning that he will come after those who go after him have heightened concerns about their safety. It is crucial that steps are taken to ensure that these threats are taken seriously and that those responsible are held accountable for their actions.
The arrest of Abigail Jo Shry serves as a stark reminder of the importance of upholding the rule of law and protecting the individuals who are tasked with administering justice. Threatening the life of a judge undermines the integrity of our legal system and cannot be tolerated. It is imperative that we condemn such actions and work towards creating a safe and secure environment for those involved in contentious legal battles.
