White supremacists around the country have infiltrated protests in hopes of starting a civil war with police officers.

In a report by Blavity, the protests started in order to bring awareness and justice for the death of George Floyd after he was killed by former MPD officer Derek Chauvin. Now, the white supremacist group known as the Boogaloo Bois have infiltrated peaceful protests to carry out their own agenda against police officers.
These members claim they are supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement but use it as a front to incite riots against police officers. They often arrive at the demonstrations wearing Hawaiian shirts and armed with weapons. Many of these white supremacists are seen in cell phone videos destroying property or pretending to be neutral among protestors and police officers.

Mayor Jacob Frey said in a statement that the city of Minneapolis is trying to prevent white supremacist groups from infiltrating the protests:
“We are now confronting white supremacists, members of organized crime, out of state instigators, and possibly even foreign actors to destroy and destabilize our city and our region,”
