Out of all the Kardashian and Jenner kids, Rob Kardashian is notoriously known for being the most private sibling. The 38-year-old hasn’t appeared on-camera with his famous family since E!’s ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians‘ ended. Even as the show came to an end, he began keeping to himself, more than he did when the series first aired.

While his sister Khloé Kardashian would often tease his return — before and after the 20-season series concluded in 2020 — Rob never made a comeback. He never even appeared on the family’s follow-up series on Hulu, ‘The Kardashians.’

In 2023, Khloé continued to tease her brother’s reality show return. She said her younger brother “has been through a lot personally,” but he was “feeling really good about himself and I’m happy for him, so I have faith that, soon, he’ll be back on the show.”

Although Rob has yet to make his comeback, he is now telling his older sister and the public why he initially chose to stay out of the spotlight then, and why he still chooses to keep it that way.

During a new episode of Khloe’s podcast, Khloé in Wonderland, Rob Kardashian became “vulnerable” and admitted that he’s not that “comfortable” in his own skin. On the July 16 episode, Khloé called Rob and he spoke about his super private lifestyle and candidly shared, “It just has everything to do with myself.”

Rob continued to clarify that his opting to refrain from the family shows and spotlight has nothing to do with his family. He referred to the relationships with his older sisters Khloé, Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, his younger sisters Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner, and their mother, Kris Jenner. Rob said, “There’s definitely nothing wrong between any of us.”

He instead admitted:

“I don’t wanna be filming and putting myself in a position where I’m not comfortable. Like, I’m not comfortable in my skin. So, why would I wanna go be on camera and just be vulnerable and let people in? That’s not what I wanna do. I’m not gonna just put myself out there if I’m not comfortable with myself. I haven’t been comfortable with myself in years.”

Rob also noted that “filming and doing all that, it’s not for everybody.” Khloé couldn’t help but to agree. Rob added, “And I choose my own happiness and peace [over] just filming for somebody who doesn’t do anything for me in my personal life.”

Khloé then asked if he would ever consider getting back in front of the camera. He didn’t seem to eager to return, but he also didn’t completely turn down the idea. He said:

“No, of course. I mean, I love filming if it’s positive and if it’s natural and I’m feeling good about myself. Then, of course and I’m comfortable. I like being around my family, so that stuff is good to me. Obviously, I have nothing against it. The reason I don’t is because I’m a homebody and I just choose, like I said, my peace and happiness.”

Rob Kardashian also spoke about his current relationship status. As a refresher, Rob was last publicly seen with Blac Chyna, the mother of his daughter, Dream Kardashian. The two were first linked in January 2016, engaged by April 2016, and soon welcomed their daughter. They were on-and-off for a while, but split for good in 2017. Rob hasn’t been linked to any else romantically since.

He told his sister Khloé Kardashian, “I just talk to people.” She replied “You talk to a lot of people.” He admitted, “I do.” Khloé added, “Rob might be a recluse, but let me tell you — Rob still gets around. It’s wild. I’ve never seen anything like it.” He added:

“I’m good at talking to people. But also there [are] moments where I’m like, okay, I can’t talk to anybody, it’s too much energy. It’s just too much. I’m talking to too many people. I don’t wanna be like that. I have a daughter. I’m trying to be a good example. I don’t bring girls to the house. I don’t have girls meet my daughter. I’ve been single – she’s 8 years old – I’ve been single for 8 years, since she [was] born. Of course, I’ve dated and stuff, but I’ve never gotten serious or wanted to. My energy is just into Dream.”

Rob admitted that he’s “probably too strict” with his rules around dating.” He said, “I probably should have fun and enjoy my life. I mean, I still have fun and enjoy my life, I just don’t care to be dating somebody, honestly. Unless it just happens. It just hasn’t. But I definitely talk to people. I just — I’m not out here going on dates. Sometimes I do, but I really prefer not to. I prefer none of that.”
